NAD+—nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide—is a coenzyme found in every cell and is essential for cellular energy production, redox reactions, DNA-repair pathways, and the activity of enzymes such as sirtuins and PARPs. NAD+ levels and NAD-related metabolism have become a major area of healthy-aging research, which is why NAD+ is frequently used in wellness and recovery settings. A recent systematic review found that NAD+-boosting strategies clearly affect NAD-related biology, but human wellness outcomes remain mixed and route-specific evidence is still developing systematic review.
